Knocked out of the Copa de la Reina

Real Madrid's run in the Queen's Cup has come to an end. Our team was unable to overcome Atlético in the quarter-final at the Centro Deportivo Alcalá de Henares. Ludmila gave the home side the lead in the first half, but at the start of the second half Linda Caicedo brought the scores level. A few minutes later, however, Eva Navarro made it 2-1. The madridistas are now looking ahead to their next league fixture, when they take on Betis away (Sunday, 2:00pm CET).

Atletico came close first and Athenea was responsible for Madrid's reply in the 14th minute. She tried with a long-range shot that the rival goalkeeper managed to keep out, Møller collected the rebound and Menayo prevented the Danish player from shooting comfortably. Twelve minutes later it was Linda Caicedo's turn, who forced Gallardo into action with a shot from the edge of the area. However, Ludmila gave the Red and Whites the lead in the 37th minute after receiving a pass in the box and beating Misa with a powerful shot. Shortly after, Boe Risa tried her luck with a straight shot that our goalkeeper easily blocked.

Our team look for a comeback
This superiority on the scoreboard didn't last long, as shortly after the break the madridistas managed to equalise. Feller advanced down the right flank and managed to play the ball into the path of Linda Caicedo, who made it 1-1 with a beautiful low shot. But Atletico went ahead again seven minutes later through Eva Navarro, who struck a fine shot from the edge of the box to make it 2-1. Zornoza could have levelled the game with a long-range effort that skimmed just wide of the post (67'), while Møller got on the end of a good pass inside the area but her shot went just inches wide. Despite the attempts made by Toril's side, the scoreline remained unchanged at the Centro Deportivo Alcalá de Henares.
