2-2: All square in Women’s Champions League Group Stage opener

Real Madrid got their Women's Champions League Group Stage underway with a point. Toril's team picked up a draw against Chelsea in the clash at the Alfredo Di Stéfano, going ahead inside 10 minutes through Olga, before the English side levelled on the stroke of half-time. Kerr made it 1-2 with 75 minutes gone but Olga completed her brace from the penalty spot three minutes later. 

The game began with the intensity that is to be expected from a European clash. The English team were pressing high, but Olga, who had just expertly stopped the opposition creating a chance of their own, flew up the other end to find the net with 10 minutes gone. The Seville-born star picked the ball up on the edge of the box, set herself nicely and unleashed a shot that beat Berger. Chelsea immediately pushed forward in search of the equaliser and laid siege to Misa's goal. Shortly before half-time, Charles levelled the scores with a header on the back stick. 

Chelsea took control following the restart, but Misa was equal to everything they had to throw at her. Our team were camped in their own half, waiting for the chance to break, but with 75 minutes on the clock, Kerr got on the end of a Charles cross to put the visitors ahead. Three minutes later, Athenea was upended in the box and the referee pointed to the spot, for Olga bring the game level once more. In injury time, Chelsea had the ball in the back of the net again but the goal was ruled out for off-side meaning the honours finished even.
