Pau Quesada: "We will go for the win with our supporters behind us"
"Wolfsburg are a strong team with a lot of international experience. It will be an exhilarating game," Däbritz said ahead of the Champions League clash.
Pau Quesada and Sara Däbritz spoke to Realmadrid TV before our team's Champions League matchday 5 game against Wolfsburg at the Alfredo Di Stéfano (Tuesday, 9:00 pm CET). The coach said: "We will prepare thoroughly for the match and we'll try to get the players to feel that they're at their best. We'll be looking for a good version of ourselves tomorrow."
Wolfsburg
"They are one of the best teams in Europe. You saw against PSG and Manchester United how well they perform and how competitive they are. They alternate very experienced players who know the competition well with young players they've brought in this season. They're going to be a very aggressive team and we'll have to put in a good performance if we want to play at their level."
All out for the win
"Any points we can pick up will go towards qualification. To beat them would be to overtake them and that's what we're looking for with the support of our fans. Against Real Sociedad, in the last few minutes, that crowd at the Di Stéfano gave us an extra boost and we were able to take all three points. The players are very focused and want to play a great game against a formidable opponent."
Virtues:
"We're a very aggressive pressing team, which allows our opponents to run little and have little composure on the ball. We want to continue this aggressiveness in the defensive zone. We want to be very dynamic on the ball. We know that they're going to let us have little of the ball, so we have to find that time, disorganise them and from there be vertical. They're a team that threaten space very well. It's going to be a very tight game and it's going to be nice to watch from the sidelines."
Message to the players
"We talked about defending very well in the box because they are a team that comes at you with a lot of people and with good finishers. From there we can't lose that touch; we have to be able to win the ball back and find the free player with that first pass so we can start and penalise them in those transitions. We have to read the game very well and understand what's going on. The team is more mature in that respect and this opponent is going to demand even more of us."
Playing at the Di Stéfano
"Playing at the Di Stéfano gives us a plus. You can see it in the players, from how we approach the game, how we feel about it and how the crowd gives us that final push to defend and attack. We have been very comfortable. Both in the Champions League and in LaLiga F our numbers are very good. We have a great opponent coming up and we have to give our best for our fans and for ourselves."
Däbritz: ‘It will be important that we all defend well’
"We're feeling really good, especially after the win against Real Sociedad the other day, which gives us confidence. It was important to win after the international break. We're looking forward to tomorrow's game."
Opponent
"They are a strong team, with a lot of international experience. They're a tough opponent and it'll be a very exciting match. They have very good qualities: they're good when they have the ball and play through transitions, set pieces and when they get inside the box. We have to be careful, be solid in defence and bring our qualities to the pitch tomorrow."
Team momentum
"We'll be motivated for this game, it's always special to play in the Champions League and even more so when it's at home. That's a plus for us. We have big things to achieve before the December break. There are four games left and it's important to get a good result and three points tomorrow.
Defensive solidity
"It's going to be important that we all defend well and that we are well organised on the pitch. We have both good defensive and offensive qualities. We have to be switched on from the first minute and focused in every duel or situation on the pitch. We want to enjoy ourselves and win the game."
Playing at home
"We love playing in front of our fans. It's always a positive thing. They push us on and we're thrilled to be playing with our fans behind us at the Di Stéfano."
Personal feelings
"I feel great. I'm happy and proud to be part of this team. I enjoy being part of this club every day. I enjoy my role on the pitch, with the team and I hope it continues like this."
