Misa, Ivana, Olga, Teresa, Maite Oroz, Zornoza, Esther, Athenea, Lucía and Rocío were called up by Spain for the team's two friendly outings. All of the aformentioned players expect Lucía played their part in the draw against Sweden. In the win against reigning World Cup winners, the USA, all of the madridistas featured apart from Teresa and Lucía. Esther struck Spain's second goal in the game.

Weir's Scotland contested the World Cup qualifying play-off. In the first match, they claimed an extra-time win over Austria and then pitted their wits against the Republic of Ireland.
