Misa, Ivana, Olga, Rocío, Teresa, Zornoza, Athenea and Oihane were crowned the World Cup champions after defeating England in the final of the tournament held in Australia and New Zealand. Olga’s first-half goal handed the Spaniards their first-ever World Cup trophy.

Spain were crowned World Cup champions after beating England in the final courtesy of a goal from Olga. Vilda's team secured the title with a goal from the full-back in the first half. Teresa started and played the whole game, while Oihane was brought on in the 60th minute and Ivana on 73’.

Semifinales
Spain-Sweden 2-1

The Spanish national team reached the World Cup final thanks to a goal from Olga. Spain went ahead in the 80th minute through Salma, but the Swedes levelled eight minutes later. Olga got the winning goal in the 89th minute thanks to a strike from outside the area, in a move in which Teresa also played a part. The two Madrid players played the whole game.

Quarter-finals
Spain-Netherlands 2-1

Vilda's charges beat the Netherlands in extra time to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals. Teresa played the full match and Oihane played 91 minutes. Ivana came on in the 77th minute, while Olga was introduced in the 91st minute. Spain will now take on Sweden in the semi-finals.

Switzerland-Spain 1-5

Spain defeated Switzerland and secured a place in the quarter-finals. Teresa and Oihane started the match, while Athenea came on in the second half. The Spanish will face the Netherlands in the quarter-finals.

Spain finished second in their group with two wins and a defeat. Misa, Ivana, Olga, Teresa and Athenea were all in the starting XI for Spain’s win over Costa Rica, while Zornoza and Oihane came off the bench in the second half. In the win over Zambia, Misa, Ivana, Olga and Teresa played 90 minutes, with the latter scoring the team's first goal. Athenea and Oihane came on in the second half, while Zornoza was not involved. The Spanish team were beaten by Japan in the third match, with Misa, Olga, Teresa, Zornoza, Rocío and Oihane all taking part.

Raso booked a place in the semi-finals with her national team, beating Toletti and Feller's France in a penalty shootout. The Australian ace played from the start, and was substituted 13 minutes into extra-time.

Hayley Raso, one of Real Madrid's new signings, scored Australia's second goal as they advanced to the quarter-finals. The forward, who got on the end of a good team move in the 70th minute, played 80 minutes.

The striker was a starter and won the penalty that gave Australia the victory in the opening match of the tournament against Ireland 1-0. In the match against Nigeria, the madridista also a started and played 84 minutes. In the third game against Canada, she grabbed a brace to confirm qualification for the Round of 16 as group winners.

Linda Caicedo dropped short of making the World Cup semi-finals with Colombia, losing to England in the quarters. The madridista played the full game and was one of her country's standout players.

Linda Caicedo played the full 90 minutes of the match against Jamaica, which saw Colombia advance to the quarter-finals. The madridista was one of the most effective players for her team and was the only one capable of scoring a goal against the Caribbean side in the competition.

Linda Caicedo is playing her first World Cup with Colombia and scored the second goal in her team's opening match against Korea Republic in Sydney. The forward played 96 minutes in the win over Germany, hitting the opening goal of the game. Colombia lost to Morocco in their third clash but still qualfied for the Round of 16 top of the group.

Toletti
started in the middle of the park for France, playing 65 minutes, while Feller  was named in the squad but did not feature as her country were knocked out on penalties to Australia, who had Real Madrid teammate Raso in their ranks.

Toletti and Feller were both involved in the convincing win against Morocco. The midfielder was substituted after 64 minutes, with the score at 3-0, while the forward came on in the 82nd minute.

Panama-France 3-6
Toletti and Feller qualified for the Round of 16 with France after topping Group F. Their opening game ended in a draw with Jamaica, as Toletti completed the full 90 minutes but Feller did not feature. The same went for the second game, when they beat Brazil. Finally, the French beat Panama in Sydney without the two madridistas.

The Danish national team failed to beat Australia, in a match that saw Madrid's Raso on the score sheet. Bruun came on in the 63rd minute and Svava was left out.

With Svava and Bruun in their ranks, Denmark clinched a place in the Round of 16 after finishing second in Group D with two wins and a defeat. In the win over China, Bruun played 28 minutes, while Svava was not involved. Their second game ended in defeat to England as neither madridista featured. In the last clash, Bruun played 27 minutes against Haiti.

Kathellen was part of the Brazil squad for what was their ninth World Cup appearance. The canarinha opened Group F with a comprehensive win over Panama although the madridista didn't take part. She did not feature against France either, as her side fell to defeat. She played the full game in the draw against Jamaica in Melbourne, which wasn't enough to see them through to the Round of 16.
