The Spanish national team came from 2-0 down to beat Colombia on penalties and seal their passage to the semi-finals. Five Real Madrid players featured in Spain's victory. Athenea and Olga played 79 and 64 minutes respectively, while Eva Navarro, Teresa and Redondo came on in the second half. Eva Navarro was on target in the penalty shoot-out. Misa, M. Méndez and Oihane didn't play.

Spain, with Misa, Teresa, Oihane, Olga, Athenea, Eva Navarro, M. Méndez and Redondo in their squad, came out on top in Group C. The world champions opened with a win against Japan in Nantes. Olga and Athenea started the match and the forward set up the first goal. Oihane and Teresa came on in the second half. Teresa and Oihane were in the starting eleven in the win over Nigeria that saw them qualify for the quarter-finals, while Olga and Athenea came on after the break. After beating Brazil, with Antonia S. in their team, they qualified as group winners. Teresa, Olga, Eva Navarro and Athenea, who netted the team's opening goal, were in the starting line-up, while Misa was introduced in the 75th minute.

Antonia S., who missed the game through injury, made it through to the final with Brazil after her country eliminated a Spain side featuring Misa, Teresa, Oihane, Olga, Athenea, Eva Navarro, M. Méndez and Redondo.

Antonia S., who missed out through injury, is now through to the semi-finals with Brazil after knocking out Toletti and Lakrar's France with a goal from Portilho in the 82nd minute.

Brazil were drawn in Group A and started with a win over Nigeria after playing the entire match. She also played the full 90 minutes in the defeat against Japan. In the third match, they sealed their place in the quarter-finals despite losing to several of her Real Madrid team-mates in the match against Spain. Antonia had to come off in the final minutes of the match due to physical problems.

Toletti, who played 85 minutes, and Lakrar, who didn't feature, were knocked out of the competition as France were beaten by Brazil.

Toletti and Lakrar beat Linda Caicedo's Colombia in the opening match. The duo played the full 90 minutes. Toletti played the whole game in the loss to Canada and Lakrar came on in the 72nd minute. Finally, they booked their place in the quarter-finals as group winners after beating New Zealand; Lakrar started and Toletti came on in the 74th minute.
COLOMBIA

Colombia came close to reaching the semi-finals after leading 0-2 in the second half, but Spain mounted a comeback which eventually saw them lose on penalties. Linda C. played 66 minutes and was one of the biggest threats for her team, setting up the second goal with a well-struck shot.

Linda Caicedo made it through Group A and, in her first encounter, played the entire game as Colombia lost to France. She also started in the victory over New Zealand. She played the entire match against Canada as her team progressed to the quarter-finals as one of the two best third-placed teams.
