5-0: Madrid fall to defeat in the Clásico

Two quick-fire goals before the break all but decided the game.
5-0: Madrid fall to defeat in the Clásico
MATCH REPORT.
Real Madrid lost the Clásico clash at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. Barcelona needed the three points to be crowned league champions and flew out of the blocks early on. With just three minutes on the clock, Rolfö scored with her head but the goal was ruled out for off-side. Madrid were looking solid and carved out their first opportunity following a flowing counter-attack led by Asllani and M. Oroz.

The visitors' good defensive work forced Barcelona to try their luck from distance and they found their first shot on target when Alexia let fly but Misa kept it out comfortably. Athenea responded when she found space through the middle and drove into the box but Paños repelled her shot. The hosts looked to step it up a notch but came up time and again against a solid Madrid back line.

Luck deserts the madridistas
Just before the break, Barcelona went ahead in unfortunate circumstances as Alexia's long-range strike deflected off Ivana, wrong-footing Misa, who was powerless to stop it ending up in the back of the net. Two minutes later, Alexia made it 2-0. After the restart, Esther and Olga looked to cut the deficit but their efforts were both turned behind for corners. With an hour gone, Patri made sure of the result when she hit the third, before Peter turned into her own net on 65’. J. Hermoso added her name to the scoresheet in the closing stages as Barcelona were crowned Primera Iberdrola champions.
