4-0: Copa de la Reina run comes to an end
Our team were unable to get the better of Barcelona in the semi-finals.
Real Madrid have been knocked out of the Copa de la Reina, bringing their season to a close. Alberto Toril's team were undone by Barcelona in the semi-finals played at the Santo Domingo stadium in Alcorcón. Pressing high from the off, Barcelona were first to threaten through Mariona, but Misa did brilliantly to keep out her point-blank effort. With fifteen minutes on the clock, Oshoala's header crashed back off the woodwork, before Martens did open the scoring four minutes later when she turned home from inside the box.
With half an hour on the clock, Athenea could have levelled but her long-range strike whistled just over the crossbar. After the break, Aitana and then Mariona added to the opposition's advantage inside six minutes. Misa's impressive display frustrated Barcelona time and again but with just quarter of an hour left to play, Oshoala made it 4-0. Nahikari came close to finding the net in the closing stages but her header flew just the wrong side of the post.
