The Spanish national team, with madridistas Misa Rodríguez, Oihane Hernández, Maite Oroz, Teresa Abelleira, Olga Carmona and Athenea del Castillo in their ranks, have been crowned Nations League champions. The reigning world champions have another trophy for their collection after beating Sandie Toletti's France in the final, played at Seville's La Cartuja (2-0). Olga and Athenea were named in the starting line-up and set up the two goals in the game.
Spain went ahead in the first half thanks to an Aitana Bonmatí strike from Olga's pass (31’). In the second half, Athenea whipped a superb ball into the box for Mariona to make it two (52’). Olga, who was involved in all the best moments, was replaced by Oihane with 67 minutes gone, while Athenea came off on 72’.
