Real Madrid players Laia, Amaya, Claudia, Irune, Pau C. and Iris Ashley were all Under-17 World Cup finalists with Spain in the final against North Korea in the Dominican Republic. Spain previously won all three matches in Group B, knocking out Ecuador in the quarter-finals and England in the semi-finals of the tournament.
