On the road to the Copa del Rey final, our first opponent was Cacereño. The side from Extremadura put up a fight at their home stadium, but Rodrygo, scored an outstanding goal to send them through to the next round 0-1. In the round of 16, we met Villarreal away from home. Going into half-time 2-0 down, Real Madrid turned the game around in the second half thanks to goals from Militão, Vini Jr. and Ceballos.

Kroos and Courtois shared with the media their delight at winning the only trophy they didn't have in their trophy cabinet: "It was very important for me because I wanted to win everything with Madrid", said the German. The goalkeeper said: "We've got to be very proud that we won because the path this year was very difficult". The twentieth Copa del Rey was also a very special trophy for Benzema. The Frenchman enhanced his status as a legend by winning his 25th title, bringing him level with Marcelo as the Real Madrid player with the most trophies in the club's history.
