The leaders draw at the Sánchez-Pizjuán

Real Madrid drew at the Sánchez-Pizjuán and remain top of LaLiga. The match started with as much pace as it did controversy. Our team took the lead after just four minutes, following a corner kick from Kroos, in which Bellingham got in front of Nyland and laid it off to Valverde. The Uruguayan, with barely an angle, drove the ball into the net. De Burgos Bengoetxea, at the behest of the VAR, disallowed the goal for a close call for offside by the Englishman. Five minutes later, Rüdiger took the ball away from Ocampos in an action in which the Sevilla player was left lying on the turf. De Burgos Bengoetxea didn't call a foul, Real Madrid launched a swift counter-attack and Bellingham made it 0-1. The goal wouldn't count  either because De Burgos Bengoetxea had previously stopped play for Ocampos' fall.

After a quarter of an hour, Rakitic could have put the home side ahead with a left-footed shot inside the area, but Carvajal cleared off the line with his head. The rebound fell to Ocampos, who surprised with a long-range effort, but Kepa made a fine save to deny him. The home side could have scored again two minutes later. Ocampos combined with Sow, who cut inside the area but his subsequent cross-shot missed the target by inches.

The game was going back and forth and in the 34th minute there was another dangerous move for our team. Kroos, very cleverly, took a low free-kick and Sergio Ramos was on hand to prevent the 0-1 scoreline. Six minutes later, Rüdiger, from his own half, surprised everyone with a precise pass behind the defence but Vini Jr's vollied shot from inside the box crashed into Nyland's chest. The last play of the first half was also controversial. Vini Jr. got into the box in the 44th minute and was brought down from behind by Jesús Navas. De Burgos Bengoetxea did not award a penalty, nor was he alerted from the VAR room.

The first chance of the second half fell to Ancelotti's men in the 57th minute. Valverde played a precise ball from the right flank to Rodrygo, who controlled the ball with his back to goal and shot, but Nyland cleared the ball with his foot. A minute later, it was the same players and the home keeper was again the key man as he got just enough contact on the Brazilian's lob after a lovely pass from Vini Jr. with the outside of his right foot. Ancelotti brought on Camavinga and Modrić in the 67th minute. Four minutes later Rodrygo could have scored, but his left-footed shot from inside the area went high.

Bad luck was to befall our team in the 74th minute and Sevilla took the lead in a fortuitous move, when Alaba, in his attempt to clear the ball, scored in his own net. It didn't take long for the league leaders to respond, and four minutes later they equalised. Kroos swung in a free-kick and Carvajal, at the near post, surprised the defence with a spectacular header. The game gave no respite and Kepa was at his best in the 80th minute after Sergio Ramos' header. From then until the end, both teams searched for a winner, only to come away with a point.
