Rodrygo's double sends the team to the top with a win

Real Madrid were back in action following the international break with another win and currently sit top of La Liga, pending Girona's result against Athletic Club. Their win came in Cádiz in a game that saw plenty of chances and a solid defensive display. Rodrygo scored either side of half-time to ensure Ancelotti's side's superiority counted. Bellingham scored the third goal, with a left-footed effort following an assist from the Brazilian. The Englishman has now scored 11 goals in the competition.

A high intensity start to the game saw both sides attacking each other's penalty areas. The first chance fell to our team after just three minutes with a cross from Carvajal, which hit Chris Ramos and almost caught Ledesma by surprise. The home side came close twice with headers from Chris Ramos and Navarro in the 11th and 13th minute respectively. There was no respite as a minute later Rodrygo's wonder goal gave Ancelotti's side the lead. The Brazilian was sent through on the left-hand side of the box, beating Zaldua, Álex and R. Alcaraz in two beautiful moves before firing a right-footed shot into the top corner of the Cádiz goal. Real Madrid could even have doubled their lead in the 18th minute with a dangerous cross from Modrić that Bellingham couldn't quite get on the end of.

The intensity of the game dropped from that point onwards, and the game reached half-time with few chances, apart from a long-range left-footed strike from Roger with 40 minutes on the clock, which Lunin did well to turn behind for a corner, and a shot from Kroos five minutes later, which was cleared off the line by R. Alcaraz. After the break, Rodrygo had a chance to make it 2-0 in the 54th minute, but was unable to find the target when one-on-one with Ledesma. Madrid's second goal seemed only a matter of time, although once again Ancelotti's men were unlucky when Modrić's fierce shot from the edge of the area hit the post.

Two minutes later, our team doubled the lead when Rodrygo masterfully finished off a quick counter-attack with another fine finish following a couple of feints that saw him round Fali and Javi Hernández. It was 0-2 with more than 25 minutes to go. Real Madrid put in a complete performance and Ancelotti decided to replace Modrić, who left the Nuevo Mirandilla to a standing ovation. Ceballos, back from injury, came on for him in the 69th minute. The third goal for the visitors came five minutes later. Bellingham scored with his left foot after an assist from Rodrygo, who was involved in all three of our team's goals. The English midfielder, the leading scorer in the league with 11 goals, was not to be denied his chance to get on the scoresheet. Academy product Gonzalo made his debut and Lunin was once again outstanding in stoppage time after a close-range effort from Ocampo.
