Madrid secure victory over Levante

Real Madrid secured all three points at the Bernabéu against Levante. Arbeloa’s men sealed the win after a strong second half, with Mbappé scoring from the penalty spot and Asencio sending in a tremendous header from a corner by Arda Güler.

The Whites came out on top, but they were up against a very well-organised Levante side at the back, who hardly left any cracks to be breached. Asencio created a chance in the 33rd minute with a precise long pass behind the defence for Mbappé, who struck a volley narrowly wide of the target. There were few other chances in the first half, except several set-pieces from the visitors that Courtois did not have to deal with.

Arbeloa brought on Mastantuono and Arda Güler after the break. Madrid continued to dominate and were much more aggressive in their pressing. Tchouameni attempted a long-range shot that went over in the 50th minute and five minutes later Arda Güler's shot from the edge of the area forced Ryan into a save. The breakthrough came in the 58th minute. Mbappé converted from the penalty spot after the Frenchman had been brought down by Dela. This was the third league game in a row that the top scorer (19 goals) in the league has netted.

Mastantuono hits the bar
Arbeloa's men were enjoying a strong second half, and they extended their lead in the 65th minute. Arda Güler swung in a corner and Asencio was on hand to head in an unstoppable header past Ryan. The third almost came ten minutes later when Mastantuono's tremendous strike from the edge of the area crashed against the crossbar.

Chances galore
The Madridistas were rampant and created a succession of chances. A brilliant pass from Valverde behind the defence saw Ryan produce a reflex save to tip Bellingham's header away from inside the six-yard box. A minute later, there was another save from the keeper, this time after a lovely run by Vini Jr, and in the 88th minute, the goalkeeper denied the Brazilian again. In the 90th minute, two more fine saves from Ryan, the first from Bellingham’s left-footed shot inside the box and the second from Mbappé’s effort from the edge of the area. This was Madrid's 15th league win and thoughts now turn to a return to the Champions League on Tuesday against Monaco.
