League leaders draw at the Benito Villamarín

Real Madrid drew at the Benito Villamarín on LaLiga matchday 16. Ancelotti's side took the lead through Bellingham, who has now scored 12 goals in 14 league games. However, Betis equalised through Ruibal just after the hour mark in a match with plenty of pace and chances for both sides, especially towards the end. 
Both teams battled for possession at the start, but Madrid gradually gained the upper hand. In the ninth minute, Rodrygo claimed a penalty for a Ruibal challenge, but neither Soto Grado nor the VAR awarded the spot-kick. Madrid continued to trouble the opposition goalmouth and, six minutes later, Brahim made it 1-0 when he beat Silva to the rebound after a great combination between Bellingham and Rodrygo. However, the move was reviewed by the VAR and the goal was disallowed for offside against the Brazilian.

Frenetic pace
The game was a back-and-forth affair, and Betis had two good chances after the half-hour mark. First, Lunin was forced to make a fine save from a powerful Ayoze shot, and then William José's shot went just wide. Ancelotti's side responded immediately with a long-range right-footed shot from Modrić that was blocked by Silva (41 mins). The clearest chance came before the break, though, when Alaba's left-footed free-kick skimmed the left-hand post. Madrid were in for a scare right at the start of the second half, but Lunin made a superb save from Isco's effort from within the six-yard box.
