Arbeloa's side played a gutsy second half and, although they reduced the deficit, they came away empty-handed from the game against Tenerife on matchday five of the Primera Federación.
Real Madrid Castilla slipped up against the leaders of their group on matchday five of the Primera Federación. The Whites enjoyed more possession but were unable to find a way past an unbeaten Tenerife side who went into the break 3-0 up. In the second half, Roberto pulled one back for Arbeloa's side, becoming the first player to score against the Canary Islanders so far this season.
The first chance of the afternoon went to Castilla, but Dani Martín made a smart save to deny Bruno Iglesias’s free kick. The Whites were dominant, but Tenerife took the lead shortly afterwards. De Miguel took advantage of a good long ball to beat Javi Navarro when one-on-one with the keeper (17'). Castilla attempted to strike back with a cross from the right by D. Jiménez, which Loren Zúñiga just couldn't connect with in the 20th minute. Just after the half-hour mark, Álvaro González made it 0-2 with a header into the far corner (37'). Before half-time, De Miguel scored the third with a shot across goal.
The second half began with a plucky Castilla side making several incursions into the opposition's box. Loren Zúñiga and Lamini Fati, who was sent off in the 96th minute with a double yellow card, could have reduced the deficit, but it wasn't until the 70th minute that Real Madrid finally got on the scoresheet. Roberto found himself on the edge of the box and sent the ball into the back of the net with a low shot. The Whites played well with the ball and kept trying until the end, but the match ended 1-3.
