Real Madrid took all three points against Villarreal before the international break. Victory for the Whites was sealed in the second half with Vini Jr.'s brace before Mikautadze pulled one back, but Mbappé was on hand to make it 3-1 and score his fourteenth goal in ten games this season.

The Whites started strongly, pressing high up the pitch and causing Villarreal problems. This led to chances for Madrid. The first came in the seventh minute with a pass from Mbappé with the outside of his right boot to Arda Güler, whose shot from inside the area went high over the bar. Mbappé did find the target thirteen minutes later after a great individual move, in which he skipped past Rafa Marín with a beautiful piece of skill, but his subsequent shot was blocked by Arnau Tenas. There was a double chance in the 22nd minute. Vini Jr. crossed and Tchouameni's powerful header grazed the left post of the visitors' goal. Immediately after Arnau Tenas took the goal kick, Ceballos stole the ball, Mbappé laid it back and Mastantuono's shot inside the area was deflected by Renato Veiga, who prevented the first goal.

Real Madrid were not capitalising on their dominance and Villarreal could have made it 0-1 in the 40th minute when Tani went one-on-one with Courtois, who was outstanding in preventing the goal.
The final chance before the break fell to Mastantuono. His shot from the edge of the area missed the target by a matter of inches. Everything changed after the break, and Xabi Alonso's side took the lead in the 47th minute. Vini Jr. received the ball on the wing, beat Mouriño with a great piece of skill and his shot from an angle hit Comesaña before surprising Arnau Tenas.

A Vini Jr. brace
The minutes ticked by and in the 69th minute, Xabi Alonso's side doubled their lead. Bellingham played a defence-splitting pass to Vini Jr., who burst into the box before being felled by Rafa Marín. The Brazilian player converted the penalty to complete his brace. Our team could have even scored a third goal in the 72nd minute, but Tenas prevented it with a double save from Bellingham inside the area. And it went from a possible 3-0 to 2-1 after Mikautadze beat Courtois with a well-placed shot from the edge of the area in the 73rd minute.

In the 77th minute, Mouriño received his marching orders for a second yellow card and four minutes later Mbappé was on hand to seal the win for our team. He linked up with Brahim, who gave him an easy finish for his fourteenth goal in ten games this season. A deserved victory before the international break and a perfect record at the Bernabéu: five wins in as many games (four in LaLiga and one in the Champions League).
