Real Madrid are through to the last 16 of the Club World Cup. The Whites beat Salzburg at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia to finish the group stage with their second consecutive win. Vini Jr. broke the deadlock in the final minutes of the first half. The Brazilian made it 0-1 in the 40th minute with a left-footed shot and then assisted Valverde with a spectacular backheel to make it 2-0. In the second half, Gonzalo sealed the victory with a beautiful finish in the 84th minute. Juventus await in the round of 16, which will be played next Tuesday at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (9:00pm CEST, 3:00pm local time).

Madrid came out dominating and pressing high up the pitch. This allowed them to win the ball back several times in the opposition's half, and the chances started to come. The first came after eight minutes with a cross from Trent with his left foot, only for Rüdiger's header inside the area to narrowly miss the target. Vini Jr. had a much clearer chance midway through the first half. Bellingham left him one-on-one with Zawieschitzky after a nice team move, but the goalkeeper was more accurate than the striker.

Vini Jr. made no mistake with his next chance. Fran García recovered the ball on the edge of our area and started a quick attacking move that Bellingham continued with a measured pass between the lines for the Brazilian, who got rid of Gadou with a cut inside and finished with a precise left-foot shot in the 40th minute. And before the break, Vini Jr. reappeared to provide a dream assist and increase the lead. The number 7 picked up a rebound and faced Zawieschitzky, but just when everyone thought he was going to shoot, he came up with a backheel pass to Valverde, who scored with ease. It was the Uruguayan's second consecutive game on the scoresheet after a move by his teammate that was reminiscent of the one by Guti and Benzema at Riazor.

Gonzalo seals the win
The second half began with a great save by Courtois from Daghim's powerful left-foot shot in the 49th minute. Nene had an even clearer chance in the 66th minute, when he shot from inside the area and beat Courtois, but Bellingham cleared off the goal line to prevent the score from becoming 2-1. The Whites counterattacked with considerable danger until, in the 84th minute, Gonzalo sealed the victory with a move that began with a show of faith as he fought for a ball that seemed lost and continued with an exquisite finish in a one-on-one with Zawieschitzky. Juventus will be our opponents in the round of 16, which will be played next Tuesday at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (9:00pm CEST, 3:00pm local time).
