Toni Kroos has become a Real Madrid legend and the Santiago Bernabéu bade him farewell with the honours that his spectacular career deserves. He was the star of the show in his last league game for LaLiga winners, who ended their great season with a draw against Betis before facing the Champions League final next Saturday against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley. Ancelotti's side had chances to win, but the 0-0 scoreline held until the end.

After ten minutes of tentative exchanges between the two teams, it was Madrid who took the initiative. From the 14th minute onwards they had two good chances to take the lead. In the first, Vini Jr. slipped a pass to Rodrygo, but he failed to hit the target with his curling shot from the edge of the area; and in the next, Sokratis got his foot in front of a right-footed shot from Mendy. Betis hit back soon after with a long-range effort from Rodri that flew wide.

Vini Jr. almost scores with a back-heel
After the half hour mark, Ancelotti's men had another chance. Rodrygo dribbled his way past Miranda to the byline and crossed for Vini Jr. but Vieites intercepted his back-heeled effort with his right hand. Before half-time the Andalusian side made it 1-0 through Johnny but the referee, after being alerted by the VAR, reviewed the play on the monitor and signalled Marc Roca offside.

As soon as the second half got underway, Pellegrini's men came close to scoring twice. First Sabaly tried his luck with a right-footed shot and then Courtois kept out a shot from Ayoze (51'). Real Madrid searched for a goal and almost got it five minutes later when Bellingham's right-footed shot was saved by Vieites. The game was a back-and-forth affair and again Courtois kept out a goal with a superb save from Miranda (60').

Emotional farewell to Kroos
William José scored in the 65th minute, but he was offside and the goal did not go in. Kepa, who had come on for Courtois, saved a shot from Abde in the 82nd minute. Two minutes later, Kroos came close to scoring with a long-range free-kick but Vieites tipped it behind for a corner. It was the German's last effort, and he left the Santiago Bernabéu to a standing ovation. Real Madrid's next objective will be to conquer Europe for the 15th time on 1 June at Wembley.
