All square at the Bernabéu

Real Madrid were held to a draw at the Santiago Bernabéu against Rayo Vallecano, despite deserving to take all three points. Our team fought until the end, but couldn't find a way past Dimitrievski. It was a dominant performance and Ancelotti's side could have gone ahead early on in the game. Valverde stole the ball from Unai López and drove into the box, but was unable to beat Dimitrievski in the one-on-one.
 
Joselu had two good chances in the 26th minute. The first, heading wide from Modrić's corner and, in the next move, his right-footed cross-shot was off target. Madrid laid siege to the Rayo Vallecano goal from that point on. Following some good individual play, Bellingham cut a pass behind the defence for Fran García, whose powerful effort flew just over 31 mins. Soon after, Alaba also tried his luck from the edge of the area with a left-footed shot.

The best chance of the game arrived in the 39th minute, as Vini Jr. beat two defenders with a nice run, driving to the goal line and playing it back to Joselu. The forward's strike was saved by Dimitrievski, who turned the ball behind for a corner. Just before the break, Bellingham was close to making it 1-0. Having beaten two opponents with a superb cut-back in the box, the Englishman's right-footed shot flashed just over the crossbar.

More chances
It was more of the same after the break. Real Madrid carved out two good chances 55' and 57'. The first saw Joselu's header deflected wide from Valverde's cross. In the following one, Alaba was off target with his free-kick. The match remained one-way traffic for our team, who kept trying again and again. Vini Jr. had the ball in the back of the net in the 66th minute, but the goal was disallowed due to Joselu' being caught offside.

Just five minutes later Carvajal delivered a low cross from the right, Rodrygo fired across goal and the ball went just wide of the Rayo goalpost. The two Madrid players were involved in the last chance of the game. After some good interplay with Valverde, the full-back played Rodrygo through and his back-heel was kept out by Dimitrievski. However, despite all of Real Madrid's chances, the score remained 0-0 until the final whistle.
