Xabi Alonso: "Eleven Real Madrid players will take the field tomorrow to give their all"
"I'm sure that the desire, the attitude and the commitment will be there to win the game," added our coach.
Xabi Alonso appeared in the press room at Real Madrid City on the day before the match against Alavés at Mendizorroza, corresponding to the 16th LaLiga matchday: (Sunday, 9:00 pm CET): "We have enough strength and squad despite the unavailable players. Eleven players will be out there to give their all. I'm sure that the desire, attitude and commitment will be there to try to win the game. It's an important game, and the eleven who go out there will give their best.
"There are no other absentees with respect to Manchester City. We have Kylian back, but we have three suspended players, and that's part of the game. We don't have many players, and we will complete the squad with players from Castilla, who always bring quality to training and are ready if they are needed. Tomorrow we'll go with those who are on form enough to help us in Vitoria."
Mbappé
"We got Kylian back. He's fit to play, and tomorrow we'll see and decide. It's good news, obviously."
Do you have the impression that your future is on the line tomorrow?
"I always tell you that for me, the most important thing is the team and the club. Tomorrow we have a very important game because of the situation, and we want to change the dynamic of the results. We have a demanding opponent in front of us. That's what we're playing for tomorrow."
"I've been around football for quite a few years, and in Spanish football, I'm sure that in the past there have been more dismissals at this stage than this season. My impression is that football is demanding and that there have been times with more sackings of coaches at this stage. That'll be your job over the next few days. I already have enough work to do, and I'm not going to put in extra work."
The demands of Real Madrid
"I've been in football for many years, and I'm not surprised by anything that might happen. These are normal things that will happen again in the future. We have to face them with the responsibility of the job and what we represent, and from there, work to reverse the situation. It's not something that surprises me too much."
The match against Manchester City
"We did a lot of things well, and we analysed it in the post-match press conference. It has already happened. There are positive things that we need for the future, and the nearest future is tomorrow in Vitoria."
Have you spoken to the president since the match against Manchester City?
"Since I have been here, we've had constant communication with the president, José Ángel and with important people at the club because we are all in this together out of affection, trust, respect and responsibility for the common objective. The communication is good."
Benzema's statements on leadership in the dressing room
"In the dressing room, we are together every day, and we work together in the good times and in the not so good times. We're going through difficulties, but if we reverse the dynamic, in a few weeks we can grow and get stronger. These are the processes of every dressing room. Karim has experienced a lot of things, and in this dressing room, there are also people with the background and experience to make these decisions."
Do you feel the support of the players?
"I have always felt that we have had a good relationship and connection. We always fight for a common goal, and that is for things to go as well as possible. After the game against Manchester City, we didn't win, but there were no reproaches to the players. Looking ahead to tomorrow, we need that common objective, why we are here, and we're going to Vitoria with that in mind."
Assessments of his work
"I never evaluate other people's interpretations. I haven't listened to them, and I would have to listen to them to weigh them up. Everyone has their own opinion, which they are responsible for."
Arbeloa as Real Madrid coach
"In the future, he could be. He's doing things very well. We talked more about the players who are coming with us tomorrow. We didn't talk about anything further."
