Ancelotti: "They all compete, fight and play as a team”
"The aim is to go into the Champions League final with the squad on top form and I think we’ll do just that," said the coach.
Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media in the press room at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes to assess Real Madrid’s win over Granada on LaLiga matchday 35: “We’re feeling good because they all compete, fight, show their quality and play as a team. Courtois and Militão are getting better, it was a good afternoon. The aim is to go into the Champions League final with the squad on top form and I think we’ll do just that.”
“Of the players who have returned to the club, of course Brahim has carved out a crucial role as part of the squad but we mustn’t forget Joselu or Fran García, who have done a fantastic job too. They have all helped the team to be in the shape we’re in at this stage.”
Kroos and Modrić
“They’re delighted to be able to contribute and help prepare the final with the rest of the squad. Their thoughts are solely focused on trying to win this final.”
Will Courtois and Militão play all the remaining LaLiga games?
“We’ll see if Militão can play all of them because he’s coming back after a long-term injury and playing every three days is not easy. We’ll assess him on Tuesday and if he’s recovered, he’ll play. Courtois needs to get games under his belt.”
Arda Güler’s development
“He’s very young and he’s showing what a fantastic talent he is. He’s highly effective in front of goal. He’s a real natural talent and he’s doing a great job. It’s difficult to know quite how good he can become at this stage.”
Should we expect another iconic image like last year at the LaLiga celebrations?
“Yes, I guess so. It’ll be similar, the glasses will be the same.”
Message for Granada
“You have to deal with defeat in sport as well, and it’s an opportunity to improve things in the future. The Granada fans are hugely important to them and they’ll do all they can, both fans and club, to come back to the Primera División, and they have a good chance of doing so.”
Mbappé
“It’s not an issue I’m concerned with at the moment because we have an awful lot to do and we’re excited to celebrate with our fans tomorrow. Then we’ve got more games coming up. Until the 1st of June, we know exactly what we have to focus on.”
Pressure for the French players to go to the Olympic Games?
“I can’t comment on what the President of France has to say. I have no right to comment on it.”
