Carlo Ancelotti spoke to journalists in the press room at the Etihad Stadium and analysed the clash ahead against Manchester City: “Football always belongs to the footballers. I've said it many times and tomorrow it'll be the same. I realised what happened in the first leg, it was a very entertaining game and I think the players will be, as always, the protagonists. Also, it's a match where there's going to be a lot of quality on the pitch.”

“We don't have to look back at the past, we have to look at tomorrow's game and how to approach it, taking into account what happened a week ago. We have to compete, to fight and to be confident. The result is all square, there's another 90 minutes and anything can happen. We have the confidence that we have the quality to create problems.”

What he asks of Bellingham
“I always ask the players to do the same thing, to work for the team. That means commitment and attitude. What Bellingham did in the first half was a positive because he scored a lot of goals and nobody expected that. I ask him to keep working for the team, like everyone else. The work of the players in front of us is also evident because we're the team that has conceded the fewest goals in the league. This means that the collective work has been very good. We have a lot of quality and commitment.”

Bellingham is really good. He's a very modern player, with great quality, technique and physical strength. He's a midfielder, but he can cover a lot of space because of his quality. He's doing very well and he's going to be one of the most important players in the future for Real Madrid. He's only 20 years old and we forget about that, but he's very professional and has been fantastic for us.”

Haaland
“When it comes to individuals, Haaland is still one of the most dangerous players City have. The fact that he didn't appear much in the first game is a credit to our defence. He can be the best centre-forward in the world and he's always dangerous.”

Real Madrid-Manchester City: A modern-day classic
“There are many teams in Europe that are really strong and can fight to win this competition. We've played each other over the last three years and they've always been spectacular matches. I think it'll be the same tomorrow.”

Statistics at the Etihad
“Everyone can look at the statistics however they want. I always say that stats are made to be broken and there are many cases of games where Real Madrid were never going to win and then went on to win.”

Approach for the game
“We're planning to put on a complete performance. Attacking and defending well, not losing the ball unnecessarily, playing well on the counter, controlling transitions. It has to be a very complete performance and we're not focusing on just one aspect, we have to focus on all of them.”

Camavinga
“For the young players this is a game where they have to take advantage of the experience it brings. Emotionally he is very calm, he has a lot of self-confidence. He's done very well, but he has to improve some things. Given the quality he has, he's going to improve.”

Has he lost any sleep over City?
“Nothing keeps me awake. If I eat too much tonight I might not sleep well. I have huge confidence in my players, because of what we've done this season and how well we're doing now. Nothing keeps me awake at night.”

Restless Madrid fans?
“I think Real Madrid fans are relaxed, I don't think they're feeling restless. Real Madrid fans in this competition have to be the happiest, not the most restless. I don't see any restlessness, in our environment there is a lot of confidence.”

Surprises for Guardiola
“No. We know each other very well. He can rest assured, I'm not going to do magic.”
