Carvajal: “Our objective is to finish top of the group”
“I'm 100% and focused on playing against a big side like Napoli”, said the full back.
Dani Carvajal spoke to the media in the press room at Real Madrid City to give his thoughts on the Champions League group stage fifth matchday five clash between Real Madrid and Napoli (Wednesday, 9pm CET). The madridista said: "In terms of attacking stats, things are going my way and I'm contributing to the team. As far as confidence is concerned, I'm feeling very good. I'm 100%, I'm focused on playing against a big side like Napoli and I'm ready to face Kvaratskhelia. Our objective is to finish top of the group.
"The timetable is very demanding for an elite player playing for the top teams in Europe as well as being an international. We won't have much of a summer due to the Club World Cup, the European Championship and the Super Cups. I agree with the coach that there are too many games. It's no coincidence that so many injuries have been picked up. It's difficult to be 100% every three days. As players, we have the power to do something, but it's hard to reach an agreement due to the complexity of this issue. It's all down to having such a demanding schedule".
Playing time for fellow teammates
"Having so many players out and so many injuries isn't a good thing. Opportunities open up for other players who don't get many minutes when we have injuries. They have to be ready for this opportunity. It could be a chance for those players who aren't regulars to get into a team dynamic and hopefully help us to move closer to our objective".
