Ancelotti: 'We deserved to win and there's no need for drama, but rather confidence in the things we're doing well'
'We're disappointed with the result, but we played well, with a good attitude, energy and created a lot of chances,' he added.
Carlo Ancelotti spoke in the Santiago Bernabéu press room after the La Liga matchday 12 game against Rayo Vallecano. The coach said: 'Bellingham has a problem with his shoulder and will have tests tomorrow. It's affected him a bit, but he was able to continue. Hopefully it's nothing serious and he'll hopefully be available for Wednesday. We played well today, showed a good attitude, energy and created a lot of chances. We just lacked the finishing touch. We're disappointed with the result, but it was a good performance'.
'We're disappointed with the result, not with the game. You win games you don't deserve to win and sometimes you don't win games you do deserve to win. This was a game we deserved to win. We've had other games that we didn't deserve to win. We're in the fight for La Liga and we're doing very well in the Champions League. There's no need for drama, but rather confidence in the things we're doing well, like today, as we didn't do things wrong against Rayo Vallecano'.
Assessment
'If we assess the result it's a wake-up call. I can't assess the match based on the result. I can't be happy when we win or sad when we draw or lose. Sometimes I'm sad when we win if the team doesn't play well and sometimes I'm happy when we don't win. The team did their best and that's good enough for me'.
Adjustments during the match
'We forced it down the left wing in the first half, accumulating a lot of players and we should have taken more advantage of the right wing. We then created a lot of dangerous positions in the second half from the right. The only thing I said to the players at the end of the first half was that we had to play down the right more'.

'We've got a lot of attacking options. Bellingham didn't get into good scoring positions, but Valverde, Rodrygo, Joselu and Vinicius created them. We lacked a little bit of clinical finishing today'.
Modrić's substitution
'I wanted to create width on the pitch and for Rodrygo to play out wide to change from a 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3 system and introduce more energy. Modrić played an all-round game. I could have changed Valverde or Camavinga. Nobody deserved to be substituted because it was a good game. We had 22 shots and we didn't concede any shots on goal. We controlled the counter-attacks, we were aggressive and the team looked good. At times it happens that you're not able to get the goals'.
Fighting until the end
'We gave it our best shot in many different ways. We tried crosses, through balls, vertical passes. It didn't work out and those who know this world know that it can happen. It's important to believe until the end and the team pushed until the last second'.
The team's energy
'It was a very complete match in terms of energy. My team didn't look tired and I don't think anyone else did'.
Bellingham
'I don't know what happened with Pathe Ciss. They had a tussle on the pitch, but it was fine. Bellingham is a fighter, a winner and he's upset that we weren't able to win'.
Arda Güler
'It wasn't the right time to bring him on in the final minutes because there was a lot of battling and duels up top. We need to take it easy with Arda. He has started training and he will be playing soon'.
Priorities
'A draw in El Clásico and a victory today wouldn't change anything. If we were going to win one of the two games, it was against Barcelona, not Rayo'.
