On 16 August 2017, Real Madrid clinched their tenth Spanish Super Cup. In this edition, the Whites beat Barcelona 5-1 on aggregate in the final. The first leg was played at the Camp Nou, where Madrid secured a convincing victory (1-3). Three days later, the Whites lifted the trophy with another win (2-0) at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Asensio performed outstandingly, scoring two superb left-footed strikes from outside the area in both games. Cristiano Ronaldo also struck in the first leg and Benzema in the second clash.
