Demichelis: “Playing against this phenomenal team will demand concentration”
“Against Real Madrid, you have to show a lot of intensity,” added David Raum.
Martín Demichelis and David Raum spoke to the media in the press room at the Santiago Bernabéu on the eve of the match between Real Madrid and Leipzig, corresponding to the third matchday of the Champions League (9:00 pm CEST; Orange TV and Movistar Plus+). The coach of the German side emphasized: “We have to try to get into the match and play our game. We need to play with a lot of courage and show our personality. If we achieve that, we can also impose our style of play.”
“We lost last week against Bayern Munich. But four days earlier, we had played a great match against PSV, the champions of the Netherlands. That is what should give us the confidence to compete, regardless of the system, the opponent, or the stadium.”
Diomande
“I didn’t have the chance to manage him; I had him for a very short time. What I can say is based on what I saw on TV. I have no doubt that if Madrid bet on him, it’s because they saw what he did last season at Leipzig. Football today tends to look for unbalancing wingers, and he is one of them.”
The demands of the Bernabéu
“Facing the best institutions, coaches, and players is one of the most beautiful things football offers. Tomorrow, we have the opportunity, in this great venue that is the Bernabéu, to play against a phenomenal team with outstanding individuals. That will require the utmost concentration to put on a great performance.”
Raum: “Against Real Madrid, you have to show a lot of intensity"
“We know what we did wrong against Bayern, and we have no choice but to face it. Three days later, we’re going to play a match against one of the best teams in the world, and we hope to show a different side of our team.”
Key aspects of the match
“Against Madrid, you have to show great intensity and a strong team spirit. We can only win as a team. We know they have players of excellent quality in collective play and one-on-one situations. It’s very challenging, so our opportunity lies in playing as a team.”
