Endrick: “I've been in love with Real Madrid since I was a kid and I want us to make history together"
NEWS.

Endrick spoke to the media gathered in the press room at the Santiago Bernabéu following his unveiling as a new Real Madrid player. The Brazilian forward was joined by the Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño, as he underlined his excitement at joining the club: “I'm so happy. Like I said on the pitch, it's been a dream ever since I was little boy and now it's really happening. It's a wonderful city, full of wonderful madridistas. I thank God, because only he knows all I have been through and the dreams I have had. Today, this dream is coming true. It's a huge responsibility but I am so grateful for all that's happening in my life."
“I wasn't planning to cry but I've loved Real Madrid since I was a kid because someone came into my life: Cristiano Ronaldo. He's the reason I started following Real Madrid. I have spent a long time watching back all the legends, Butragueño included. I've always been in love with Real Madrid. To be playing for Real Madrid is just incredible and those tears came from the heart. I hope we can make history together."
Feelings
“I thank God for allowing me to be here. I'm so happy, I want my family and everyone around me to be happy. They're the ones I care about and if they're happy, then I'm happy too. To see my mother and father crying was really touching. It's a dream for my family and I'm grateful to both of them because they're key to everything in my life, if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be here. I hope they can celebrate loads of Real Madrid wins.”
Advice from Vini Jr., Rodrygo and Militão
“All three of them have really helped me out. They talked to me about Real Madrid because the time was coming for me to make the move. They told me about the training sessions, matches... I was focused on the Copa América, but now I hope we can build an even stronger friendship to help Real Madrid”.
Going out on loan
“As I said, I've been in love with Real Madrid since I was little and I want to be here. It was my dream and I didn't care about anything else. I asked my dad if Real Madrid were involved in the negotiations and I told him I wasn't interested in any other team. I hope I can spend my whole career at Real Madrid.”
Is it daunting coming to Real Madrid?
“God has given me this responsibility and if he's done that, it's because he knows I'm capable. Now I have to learn, stay calm, work hard, help my teammates and take advice from these players because they're unbelievable and I'm sure I will learn so much. The more I can learn, the better."
“I didn't expect so many people because I've only just got here. When I got to the stadium and saw it all full, I thought: "These fans are unbelievable." They always support their team and they have given me such a great reception. The whole stadium was chanting my name and it was really special for me and my family. I'm so grateful."
Responsibility and pressure
“I felt huge pressure initially but I just stopped paying too much attention to it because I want my family to be happy. So that's why I need to play well, spend time with them and forget about that pressure. If I score at this stadium, the happiness I'll see in their faces... I just want them all to be happy. I'm thrilled to have a family like this and I'll do all I can to make sure they feel good."
Has he had any advice from the president or Ancelotti?
“Honestly, I couldn't tell you what I did yesterday or the day before. I'm stunned by today and I can't answer that question. It's just been crazy, a really amazing moment in my life. I was so happy when I was at the hospital, then when I signed the contract too. I'm delighted and I can't think about any day other than today."
“I'm going to learn so much from incredible players. I'm focused on learning both on and off the pitch. If they give me any advice, I'll make sure to follow it. I can take so much from them. Right now, I'm concentrating on learning and helping the team, however that may be."
Similar journey to Vini Jr.
“We came here at the same age, but I think each person has their own life. We can't be comparing who's going to do better. The important thing is for Real Madrid to win, it doesn't matter what we have to do to get there."
Difference between Spanish and Brazilian football
“It's totally different. I played against Spain at the Bernabéu, I've seen how quick the games are here, the European players. You real feel the pace of the matches. They're different ways of playing. I'm going to have to work very hard to help Real Madrid.
What titles does he want to win?
“If possible, I want to win them all. The important thing is Real Madrid and the more trophies we win, the better for the club. I hope I can help us win different trophies and contribute to there being more titles in Real Madrid's history. I'm going to try and win every one available.”
“It's such a great club, it's wonderful. I'm here to help and I hope I can have a good season. Vini Jr. has had an amazing career and I hope that continues. He's always available to help me. But only God knows what will happen in the future, so I'll leave things in his hands."
Conversations with the Brazilians
“We've spoken quite a bit about how things are. The winter, the heat, personal things about Madrid, what the city's like, the weather, the pitches… We have talked about all kinds of things, but I'm feeling calm and happy. I can't wait to get playing and helping Real Madrid, whether that means scoring goals, setting them up... the important thing is to contribute. I hope I can score and dedicate the goal to the fans.”
What he was thinking as he signed his contract
“I've always loved Real Madrid. I hope I can stay here for my whole life. I'm delighted to have signed with the president and to feel the pleasure of being a Real Madrid player. It's what I want for my career.”
Competitive mentality
“I'm not a player who places too much importance on goals and assists, all I want to do is help the team. I'll do that in any way I can. I love scoring goals, but if I can contribute to the team, I'll do that however is necessary. That's what's in my head, it's my mentality. The same goes for the national team, my old team as well, and it'll be no different here."
Butragueño: "With hard work and your talent, you'll bring great joy to the fans"
Prior to the beginning of the press conference, the club's Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño, dedicated a few words to Endrick: "We welcome you to the club. You're joining a big family and we'll do all we can to make sure that you and your family are happy here. You're in for big challenges, and we're sure that with hard work and your talent, you'll bring great joy to the fans. We wish you all the best in this exciting new chapter."
