Nacho, Modrić, Kroos and Carvajal have joined Gento in having won a record six European Cups
The four now join the exclusive club of the Madrid legend, who won the trophy in 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960 and 1966.
Nacho, Modrić, Kroos and Carvajal are now among the legends of world football, having won their sixth European Cup. After winning La Decimoquinta in London, the four of them have now reached the all-time record held exclusively by Paco Gento. There are now only five players in history who have won the European Cup six times; a select group consisting entirely of Real Madrid players.
Modrić, Nacho and Carvajal have won their six European Cups with Real Madrid, while Kroos has won it five times with our club and once with Bayern München, namely at Wembley in 2013.
On the way to the record
In the 2013/14 season, Nacho, Modrić and Carvajal won their first European trophy in the Lisbon final. With Kroos in the squad, the four added their second European Cup in Milan in 2016 and ushered in three consecutive Champions League triumphs (2017 in Cardiff and 2018 in Kyiv). Success came again after the magical 2021/22 campaign, when they lifted their fifth Champions League in Paris.
Gento
Paco Gento was the first player to boast 6 European Cups and the only one with this honour from 1966 to 2024. The club's legend was part of the historic team that won five consecutive continental trophies from 1956 to 1960. Indeed, he scored in two finals (against Fiorentina in 1957 and Milan in 1958). Gento expanded the trophy cabinet in 1966 with his sixth European Cup and achieved a milestone that 58 years later has been matched by Nacho, Modrić, Kroos and Carvajal.
