Modric: “It's been a perfect year”

After the game against Al Ain, where Real Madrid were crowned world champions, Modric spoke to the press: “It's an important title, this will give us confidence for moving forward. We wanted to end 2018 in the best possible way and we did it. We were focussed from the first minute, and we’re relieved to have won our third consecutive Club World Cup. I feel great playing in this competition”.

'It's an unforgettable year for me, it's been perfect. We won the Champions League, with Croatia I had a great World Cup and now I’ve won another title with Real Madrid. This year is a dream, I couldn’t ask for more'.
 
Goal
'Karim passed it to me, I controlled it and decided to shoot. Last year I couldn’t score and this year I managed to get the first goal. Hopefully more will come in the future. I like to set up my teammates. The important thing is to give everything and help the team in other aspects of the game'.

“We played well and got the win. I'm proud to be part of this winning team. We played well in both of these Club World Cup games and I hope this will set us up well to do perform in the Copa del Rey, LaLiga and the Champions League'.

'I don’t think we're playing poorly, we've kept a lot of clean sheets, hopefully we can continue working well, picking up wins and making up ground'.

It's not good to be on the bench but he’s working well, we both train hard. It is always good to play and it’s the coach who decides who plays. I felt good since the first day.
