Toni Kroos spoke to Realmadrid TV after receiving the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Real Madrid legend expressed how proud he felt: “I'm very happy. I've received several awards in my career, but this is the biggest one you can receive in Germany. And since it's for the Foundation, where we help sick children and their families, this award is very valuable.”

Well accompanied
“I knew that Florentino Pérez and the President of Germany would be there, but I didn't know that my former teammates would be there. Not even Antonio (Rüdiger), who is a close friend, told me. It was a surprise, and it makes me happy to know that I had good teammates and good people.”

Returning home
“When they told me that the event was going to be at the Bernabéu, I was delighted, because I think it's the perfect place to receive this Order. It has been my home for 10 years and I feel that it will always be my home. I always enjoy being at this stadium.”

His incredible farewell at the Bernabéu
“The whole day was incredible. Weeks before, I said that I wanted a farewell at the Bernabéu when we had nothing at stake and that I hoped we would already be champions so that I could enjoy it. That's how it turned out, and I enjoyed it from the moment I left home until I returned. What they prepared for me, the affection of the fans, my teammates, the club president, the coach. It was special.”
