Tribute to the victims of the Valencia fire
Both teams stood aside to welcome the groups that helped during the tragedy onto the pitch as well as observing an emotional minute's silence.
Mestalla paid tribute to the victims of the fire in Valencia shortly before the start of the match between Valencia and Real Madrid. The players of both teams made way for the representatives of the National Police, Red Cross, UME and those affected by the fire.
Afterwards, Carvajal and GayĆ”, captains of both teams, laid a wreath on the pitch. In addition, the caretaker of the burnt building took the ceremonial kick-off and the stadium observed a minute's silence in memory of the deceased.
