The Whites go into the match after drawing with Al Hilal in their first game (1-1) and beating Pachuca (3-1) and Salzburg (0-3) in their other Group H matches. The Italian side, meanwhile, thrashed Al Ain (0-5) and Wydad (4-1) before closing out Group G with a defeat against Manchester City (2-5).
