Mastantuono: “The team's personality is what brought the victory”

Mastantuono, the scorer of the third goal in Real Madrid‘s victory against Monaco, spoke after the game at the Bernabéu: “The team's personality is what brought today's victory. We had been thinking as a team about changing this run of results and I think that the team's personality is what makes Real Madrid what it is. We connected with each other, with the fans and we showed a good version of ourselves, which can always be improved, but can lead us to great things.”

“When we're playing well, we're together and the team has that energy, all the players stand out individually and collectively. We all stand out, we all play for each other and that was evident today. We have two players up front who are dangerous, among the best in the world. We have the best individual players in the world and if we are connected and united, great things will happen.”

Individual level
"I'm pleased because I've been working hard for this game to come my way. Madrid is a very demanding club, where you have to give your best. I've also heard criticisms that haven't absorbed me, that make me improve and make me stronger. Today I was able to let myself go a bit more and show that version of myself that I want Real Madrid to see and with which I can help a lot more."

A new look
“I was slower, heavier and now I'm a bit better. I like change, I get bored with my hair and I try to change it. I try things out.”

What does he think he needed to improve on?
"I arrived from Argentina as a kid. Obviously, I felt very prepared to be here but it was a totally new life for me. I think every lifestyle, not only in football, takes an adaptation, being in a new city, away from my family, but I was never in a bad moment for me but I'm a happy person, who always wants to learn, to improve, who is always going to fight for the best for the team and for me. That will help me to reach that version of myself, which is why I was brought here."

Whistles for the team and Vini Jr.
"The whistles are understandable. I think people are demanding because we are in the biggest team in the world. We had to take charge of the situation we were going through, which was bad. Vini Jr. is an incredible person who adds a lot to our team. I don't need to say it myself, he is one of the best players in the world and if he is well, Real Madrid as a whole will do well. It's a pleasure for him to show that version of himself today."
