Carvajal: “This result has to galvanise us to show our fighting spirit in the coming matches”

Carvajal spoke to the media after the match against Atlético at the Metropolitano: “Losing such an important derby match is never pleasant. We did the hardest part, which was coming back from 1-0 down. We weren't sharp enough in certain areas of the game. We gave away too much and it cost us the match.”

“We have to keep going, it's three points [dropped]. Obviously, we're gutted after losing a derby, but this is a long season. Sometimes it's good to suffer a setback to wake you up and stop you thinking that everything is rosy.”

Sørloth’s celebration with the fans
“We asked for the yellow card. They explained that you can't celebrate with the stands because of possible stampedes and to avoid complications. They told us that there was no danger, everything was under control. That's when they explained it to me; sometimes they don't explain it before the competition starts.”

Words of encouragement
“Today, few words will console us. We're really gutted, but tomorrow the sun will rise again. We'll work even harder to keep winning and get back on the path to victory. This result has to galvanise us to show our fighting spirit in the coming matches. We have to take it with us into the next few matches and find the courage in today's feelings.”

Possible red card for Nico
“I haven't seen the replay. I know I was fouled, but I haven't seen the footage. If they said it wasn't a red card, they must have their reasons. I've got the stud marks right there.”

Mastantuono’s frustration
“It's as simple as doing it the same way as in the Premier League. Place different cones with balls around the pitch and let the players go and fetch them themselves, rather than relying on ball boys. Whether the home team is winning or losing, this or that or the other. The solution is much simpler, and we have it in a neighbouring league.”
