Tchouameni: “Every game is a final in this competition"
NEWS.

CourtoisTchouameni and Güler spoke to the press ahead of Real Madrid's second game at the Club World Cup. The French midfielder assessed the clash against Pachuca tonight (9:00pm CEST; 3:00pm local time): “We can do much better than we showed against Al Hilal. We're getting used to what the gaffer asks of us. We've only been all together for just over a week and I'm sure we'll keep improving every day. We'll see that tomorrow."

Training under Xabi Alonso
“The gaffer plays with us a lot in training. It's very dynamic and intense, we work hard. He's a fantastic coach."

On Mbappé
“People know he's had a few tough days but we're excited to see him again because he's an unbelievable player."

Pachuca
“We played against them this year and we know that if they've got to this stage it's because they're a good side. We'll have to give it our all tomorrow and play at our best to win. We saw a video on them and we'll finish off preparing the match tomorrow."

The demands of this competition
“Every game is a final in this competition. We failed to win the previous match so we have to do much better tomorrow to continue in the tournament."

Advice for Mastantuono
“To enjoy himself, it's a joy to play here every day. So many want to get the chance, so he has to enjoy it."

His position
“Sometimes the coach asks me to play that position and the most important thing is to give it all for the team, so I do what I'm asked."

Demands
“We have to win. It was tough to watch the Champions League final and not be playing in it. We have to get back to winning. That's in the club's genetics, as well as ours, we want to win."

Courtois: “We have to beat Pachuca to try and finish top”
“They're tough opposition. We faced them back in December. They defended well and we struggled to win it. It won't be easy but we know we have to win, and play more like in the second half against Al Hilal."

Criticism
“We're not reading what's been said in Spain. We know we were better in the second half. We watched the videos where the coach explained what we had to do better and that's what matters. We know there will be criticism when you don't play well but that's not an issue."

Xabi Alonso
“Each coach has his own unique style. We'll never find two exactly the same. We're eager to listen to him, to learn and improve. We'll try and put all that he asks us in theory into practice out on the pitch."

Mentality
“We're in good shape mentally, hungry to win. We have to show that tomorrow and play at a higher pace. If we do what we have to do, we'll win the match."

Different styles in this competition
“There are great players in every team. There's a more South American style, and a more European approach. It's changing all the time. The South American sides are doing really well. We've always had great respect for teams from every continent and we know they're good sides as well."

High temperatures
“The heat doesn't help. It's no excuse, but it doesn't help to keep a high pace. I understand we're playing at times that are adapted to the European audiences, but it's not great from a health perspective. It is what it is, we've been training for a week and we're adapting well. If someone gets tired, we can make five subs, and we've got a deep squad."

Pressure
“We drew the first one so we have to win the next to try and finish top of the group. That pressure is always there."

His future
“I'm very happy here and I hope I can stay for as long as the club wants. There has been contact, they know I'm happy and willing to sign. If they want to do it, then so do I, there's nothing more to say."

Güler: "New things take time"
"I feel more involved because the coach is always talking to me. I played 45 minutes in the first game so I'm feeling better."

On the opposition
“If Pachuca are here, it's because they're a great side. We'll try and beat them, we're ready. We played better in the second half the other day and that's how we have to continue. New things take time, so we'll try and give it our best shot."
