Daniel Carvajal has been awarded the Gold Medal of the Community of Madrid at a ceremony attended by our president, Florentino Pérez.

Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid, presented him with the award at the Real Casa de Correos in a ceremony that forms part of the celebrations for the Fiesta del Dos de Mayo.

Our captain received this recognition for his outstanding sporting career, in which he has won six Champions League titles, six Club World Cups, five European Super Cups, four LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and four Spanish Super Cups. He has also won a European Championship and a Nations League title with the Spanish national team.

After receiving the award, Carvajal expressed his pride: "I would like to thank the president for this distinction. It is an immense honour to wear the medal of this Community on my chest. I would also like to thank my president, without whom this successful career would not have been possible. This distinction recognises that I am from Madrid, from Leganés, that I have my roots here and that I enjoy every day in my hometown, my region, and my country. We're building a fantastic community to live in, one that continues to grow and never reaches its ceiling. I hope it stays that way. I'm very proud to be from Madrid and to carry this flag and this city all over the world."

"Thanks to Real Madrid, we are known worldwide and are a source of pride for the rest of the world. Thanks also to my family, who have been by my side since I was five years old and started kicking a ball around. We will always cherish this medal with great pride, and it will be something that my children will surely also be very proud of in the future."
Isabel Díaz Ayuso: "This medal rewards a record achieved with a lot of sacrifice, but also a way of being on and off the pitch"

Isabel Díaz Ayuso also had a few words for our captain: "It is a great pleasure to welcome Dani Carvajal to his home to present him with the highest award of the Community of Madrid. Dani is a Madrileño who is much loved by sports fans and the general public after having dedicated his life to doing his job to the best of his ability, always giving his all and being an inspiration to so many. When an athlete is hard-working and humble, they earn everyone's affection. What we feel for Dani cannot be explained in words. People see themselves reflected in him, and he is a role model for the vast majority of Spaniards, who have always been generous, cheerful, and family-oriented. That is why he has won over so many people."

"A native of Leganés, Madrid, he laid the first stone of Real Madrid City alongside Di Stéfano. He had just laid the foundations, literally, for the path that would lead him, among other things, to win six Champions League titles and more than 30 other trophies. All this without forgetting his roots. He is now working to make his comeback as soon as possible, and hopefully, he will do so in the first Club World Cup. This medal rewards a record achieved with a lot of sacrifice, but also a way of being on and off the pitch. Real Madrid is one of our best ambassadors, and I want to thank them for taking the Spanish brand to every corner of the planet. Thank you, Dani, thank you very much for being who you are and for inspiring children and adults who love you and are celebrating this well-deserved award with you today."
