Carreras and Asencio's paths cross once again
The two players joined the Real Madrid academy in the same season, and five years on they're playing together in the first team.
Carreras and Asensio both joined the Real Madrid academy the same year. Arriving at 14 years of age, they played together for three seasons (from Under-14s to Under-17s) and were inseparable during that time. Five years later, their paths have crossed, this time as members of the first-team squad, with the dream they had when they joined the club ultimately coming true.
Carreras: "I got on so well with Raúl, it was like living with a brother"
"I've got beautiful memories. I left, but we kept in touch. I got on so well with Raúl, it was like living with a brother because we spent the whole day together; we went to school together, in all our classes, and then we went to training in the evenings."

Asencio: "It's amazing to have all these experiences here together"
"We met here at 14 years old. He came from Galicia and I'd come from the Canary Islands. We spent so much time together because we were both the new kids. Álvaro was a key part of those early years in the residence for me. You always have a better time with teammates like him."
"We know each other really well. He's really matured as a person. He had to leave Spain to achieve his dream. When I heard there was a chance he might come back, I was absolutely delighted. To know he might be coming in was amazing. The fact we'd grown up together and now we had the chance to share a dressing room again at the greatest club in the world, it was an incredible feeling. Having all these experiences here is just amazing."
Dream come true
"Luckily for me, I've been here since I was 14 and haven't had to go elsewhere. You see what Real Madrid is all about and you're just hungrier to be here with each passing day, at the highest point in Real Madrid City. It's unbelievable to live here day to day with your teammates, the coaching staff, all the staff who help us out with everything, and first and foremost, with people like Álvaro and the rest of the dressing room. This has always been my dream and I'm fortunate enough to be living it."
