Real Madrid showcased their 36th league title to the madridistas with a grand celebration that began with institutional visits. The squad and coaching staff, along with club president Florentino Pérez and the Board of Directors, took the trophy to the Comunidad de Madrid and the City Hall. During the tour, the players were cheered on by the fans who packed the streets to celebrate a success that belongs to all Real Madrid fans.
The first stop was the Real Casa de Correos, headquarters of the Comunidad de Madrid, where Isabel Díaz Ayuso was waiting for them and an exchange of gifts ensued. Florentino Pérez and Nacho presented her with a replica of the league trophy and two shirts, one of which was dedicated to the regional president, who in turn presented them with a commemorative souvenir. After the projection of a video with the highlights of the league victory, Nacho was the first to speak: “It is a tremendous thrill to be here with all of you. It means that things have gone well and on a personal level it is special because I come here as captain and it is a great source of pride. We'd like to thank the madridistas and we're delighted with this league title. It's a trophy that we've won after a very difficult year, with a lot of games. Now we have a challenge ahead of us and hopefully we can repeat the visit in a few days' time. Today we have to enjoy the league success and the future and we'll see what happens next. Congratulations madridistas!”
Florentino Pérez: “This league belongs to everyone and to each and every one of our fans”
"This is our 36th league title. A league title based on perseverance, consistency, hard work and sacrifice. And as we always say, each trophy is also a new impetus for the next big challenge. We represent a fan base that gives us strength in every game. This league belongs to everyone and to each and every one of our fans. We work for them every day. To make their dreams come true. We are always proud to carry the name of Madrid around Spain and the world. This club is universal. It belongs to everyone. But we always remember that this city is our starting point. This is where the legend and the history of a club that is unique for its achievements and for what it means in the world of football began."
Díaz Ayuso: “Real Madrid is a spectacle, perseverance and faith until the end"
“We welcome the best team in the world to the home of all the people of Madrid, in a city that is getting more and more international and popular beyond our borders. Real Madrid is a symbol of success, of triumph, of the values of perseverance, of dreaming big, of high aims and of triumph devoid of complexes. There are no other criteria for being signed by this team than being the best. This club represents a membership card that is passed down from grandparents to grandchildren, it is an academy and a school of values for thousands of young people, it is a spectacle, perseverance and faith until the end. This trophy also has a special credit due to the team's serious injuries. Buying a ticket to the Bernabéu is money well spent and a guarantee of a great spectacle and good sport. Madrid continues to flourish as it has always done. Thank you for so much. Congratulations, Real Madrid. ¡Cómo no te voy a querer!”
After the speeches, the traditional group photo was taken and then came one of the most eagerly awaited moments when the players and Ancelotti went out onto the balcony of the Comunidad de Madrid to showcase the trophy to the fans who gathered at Puerta del Sol.
Martínez-Almeida: "Congratulations because you are the pride of the city of Madrid"
The next official stop was the City Hall, where a further exchange of gifts took place. Club president, Florentino Pérez, and Nacho presented a replica of the trophy and two shirts, one of them dedicated by the entire squad, to José Luis Martínez-Almeida, who reciprocated with the symbol of the city, a figure of the bear and the strawberry tree. After the screening of a video with special moments of the club's 36th league crown, the mayor spoke: "Good morning, madridistas. We are joined by the most successful club president in the history of Real Madrid and the 36th league title, which has been extraordinary. You only have to look at the numbers. I would like to thank the president for everything the Bernabéu has given us and for Ancelotti. Anyone who likes football likes Ancelotti. It is difficult to find a person who embodies his values. I would also like to congratulate a squad that started the year with serious injuries, but whose players gave everything to become champions of the league."
"In sport, the difficult thing is not to win once, but to win so many times that you never relax and never get bored of winning. That is the great achievement of these players. They never give up, they always want to win and they are an example for all of us and for me, who hope to be back in three weeks. Congratulations because you are the pride of the city of Madrid."
Florentino Pérez: "Nothing is impossible for this badge and this shirt"
“This has been a very tough league season, with plenty of adversity, with serious injuries that have left us without some of our top players for practically the whole season, and for that reason it is a trophy that adds to the history and legacy of Real Madrid. These players and this coaching staff, under the leadership of our beloved Carlo Ancelotti, have done it again and have shown that nothing is impossible for this badge and this shirt. We are ambassadors of this city where Real Madrid was born and that makes us proud and we never forget it. And we feel the responsibility to transmit the values of our club, which are what lead the way for us."
The last to speak was Nacho: “It is a great delight to be here and it means that we are doing things well. I'd like to thank the Madrid fans for their support because it means a lot to us to feel your support. We're celebrating another league title and we have our minds set on the objective of day 1. We want to enjoy this well-deserved league title today and we're going to go for more.”
