Real Madrid will be aiming to claim their 15th European Cup tomorrow at Wembley against Borussia Dortmund. This will be the 18th final of the competition that the Whites has contested in their 122-year history. It will be the first time that Real Madrid and Borussia go head-to-head in a final. Real Madrid have lifted the trophy in 14 of the 17 finals they have played in, which is more than 80% of wins. It is the club that has competed in the most finals and also the club that has won the most.

The legendary team led by Di Stéfano triumphed in the first five editions between 1956 and 1960. The opponents were Stade de Reims (4-3), Fiorentina (2-0), Milan (3-2), Stade de Reims (2-0) and Eintracht Frankfurt (7-3). After losing to Benfica and Inter in 1962 and 1964, La Sexta trophy came after victory against Partizan in 1966 (2-1).

In 1981, Madrid failed to win the trophy against Liverpool. Since then, they have won every final they have reached. Juventus were the opponents for La Séptima in Amsterdam in 1998 (1-0). The following years would bring La Octava against Valencia in Paris (3-0 in 2000) and La Novena against Bayer Leverkusen in Glasgow (2-1 in 2002) with Zidane's unforgettable goal.
