NEWS.
Today marks the 75th anniversary of the inauguration of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. On 14 December 1947, Real Madrid first opened this magnificent temple of sport with a friendly match against Portuguese side Os Belenenses. The Whites won 3-1 and Barinaga had the honour of becoming the first goal scorer in this stadium.

Ever since then, the Santiago Bernabéu has been the scene of Real Madrid's heroics. Last year, our stadium witnessed some magical nights in the Champions League against PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City, which will go down in history. This road to the Decimocuarta was enjoyed at the same time as the spectacular transformation of the Bernabéu is taking place to ensure it remains one of the greatest stadiums ever.

The stadium has been named Santiago Bernabéu since 1955, in honour of the club's legendary president. The goal now is to transform it into an avant-garde landmark, with the utmost comfort, safety and state-of-the-art technology. A place where fans will continue to savour unforgettable experiences. Some of these great moments include the most significant football events that our stadium has witnessed, such as the four European Cup finals, the 1982 World Cup final, the 1964 European Championship final and the 2018 Copa Libertadores final.
When the remodelling is completed, the Santiago Bernabéu will enhance its legendary status by hosting new truly unique experiences, as Club President Florentino Pérez said: 'We want it to be the best stadium in the world. With our resources, it will become the greatest stadium of the 21st century. It will be an architectural landmark, it will have the latest state-of-the-art technology and it will also be a source of income. It will be the source of pride for all madridistas'.
