5-1: Modrić gets a goal and an assist as Croatia thrash the Czech Republic
The captain put on an outstanding display for his country in Osijek.

Luka Modrić captained Croatia to a 5-1 demolition of the Czech Republic in their second World Cup 2026 qualifier, played at the Opus Arena in Osijek.
Kramarić made it 1-0 in the first half, before Soucek levelled after the break. Shortly afterwards, Modrić, who played 81 minutes, put Croatia back in front from the penalty spot. Perišić made it 3-1, Budimir struck the fourth, and the Real Madrid midfielder then set up Kramarić to hit the fifth and decisive goal for his nation.
