1-2: Arda Güler plays key role in taking Turkey into the quarter-finals
Two corners taken by the madridista led to goals for his nation, who beat Austria and will now face the Netherlands.
Arda Güler made it a full house of madridistas in the Euro quarter-finals after Turkey clinched a place in the next round with a win over Austria at Leipzig's Red Bull Arena. The Real Madrid player played a crucial role in the victory, setting up Demiral to net twice, and completing a superb 77 minutes all round. Turkey will face the Netherlands for a place in the semi-finals (Saturday 6, 9:00pm CEST).
Turkey went ahead with just a minute played. Güler whipped a corner into the near post and Demiral pounced on a flick-on by the defender to beat the Austrian goalkeeper. With 59 minutes gone, the madridista put another superb cross into the front post, with Demiral on hand once more to head into the back of the net. Austria upped the pressure in the closing stages and cut the deficit, but Turkey were able to hold on to take the win.
