1-1: Modrić scores but Italy level with last kick of the game against Croatia
The madridista put his country in front but they now rely on other results to qualify.
Croatia drew with Italy in their third and final Group B fixture. Modrić, his country's captain, played 80 minutes and found the back of the net. The madridista could have opened the scoring earlier, but saw his penalty saved by Donnarumma (54’). In the very next move, he did get the better of the Italian shot-stopper to become the oldest ever goalscorer at a European Championship (38 years and 289 days).
However, Italy hit back to snatch a draw in the 98th minute, Zaccagni curling one in to clinch a place in the next round for the Azzurri. Croatia sit on two points and finish third in the group. They could still qualify mathematically depending on results in the other groups, but it looks unlikely at this stage.
