Real Madrid's Spanish Super Cup begins, as they look to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) for their first trophy of the season. The competition takes place in a final four format and this evening our team heads into a derby against Atlético in search of their fifth consecutive final (8 pm Spanish time, 10 pm local time). If Xabi Alonso's side win, they will face Barcelona, who beat Athletic Club in the other semi-final, on Sunday.

The Madridistas participate as runners-up in last season's La Liga and Copa del Rey. If we are to win our 14th Spanish Super Cup, it will be crucial to continue the team's good momentum after four victories (Alavés, Talavera, Sevilla and Betis), in which they have scored 12 goals. Atlético, who have two Super Cups to their name, go into this competition having finished third in LaLiga.

“We must be well prepared mentally and take care of the details,” said Xabi Alonso in the press conference ahead of the clash. Bellingham, who has been named in the squadadded: “We know how important this match is and we want to win for our fans.”

Previous Super Cup clashes
This will be the fifth time in history that both teams have met in the Spanish Super Cup, with a favourable balance for the Madridistas (2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat). In the 2019-20 campaign, our team won the trophy after defeating Simeone's side in a final that was decided on penalties. In 2023-24, the semi-final triumph came in extra time (5-3).
