The Real Madrid academy side got the better of Juventus at home thanks to Liberto's strike.
Real Madrid's Under-19s continue their flawless start to this season's Youth League campaign. They came past Juventus at the Alfredo Di Stéfano to record their third win in as many games in the competition. Liberto's first-half strike (13’) handed the hosts the victory that sees them sit at the top of the table on nine points.
López de Lerma's team came out of the blocks in dominant fashion, taking control of the ball and penning their opponents back inside their own half. The defensive wall was resolute, despite Avisó Yáñez's 9th-minute warning shot, pouncing on a loose ball in the box, but the goalkeeper turned it behind. Four minutes later, though, Liberto turned a corner kick into the back of the net almost on the line to open the scoring.
The Italians pushed forward as they looked to react to the goal, but the madridista stood firm, giving away few chances of note. Our boys could have doubled their lead before half-time, when a slick move ended with Mario Rivas' header coming back off the bar, before Carlos Díez shot across goal and just wide on 45’.
Madrid were back in full control following the restart, though Javi Navarro did keep Juventus out twice early on in the half. As the game wore on, the team from Turin were pegged back once again, as Lezcano and Barroso both enjoyed decent chances. López de Lerma called on his bench in search of the second goal, as the visitors were sitting deep and looking to cause problems on the break.
Ultimately, though, Madrid were able to manage their advantage until the end. They had a numerical advantage in the closing stretch after Merola was sent off for a clash with Fortea on 85’. The madridistas' 19 shots to the Italians' one underlined our academy side's superiority throughout, and they are now unbeaten in their first three games.
