Real Madrid's Under-19s staged a comeback at the Alfredo Di Stéfano to secure a superb victory over Olympique Marseille on the opening day of the UEFA Youth League. The visitors took the lead in the first half through Mmadi, but the home side equalised in the 60th minute with an own goal. The French striker scored again to make it 1-2, but goals from Roberto (80') and Barroso from the penalty spot (88') turned the score around in a dramatic finale.

The Whites had some decent chances in the first half, but they came up against a very inspired Badoui in goal. The keeper first denied Valdepeñas with a diving save and then pushed away a shot from Carlos Díez. In the 45th minute, Adrián Pérez failed to convert a wonderful through ball from Pol Durán. Immediately afterwards, Marseille took a 1-0 lead after a swift counterattack that Mmadi finished off.

The second half got off to a slow start with many interruptions. But the Under-19s kept pushing until they found the equaliser in the 59th minute. It was a scramble inside the box with several ricochets, and Calisto eventually put the ball into his own net while trying to clear Barroso's shot. Marseille threw everything into attack and retook the lead, with Mmadi scoring again in the 73rd minute.

The referee disallowed a goal by Barroso in the 78th minute for offside, but straight after, Roberto equalised with a powerful right-footed shot. The academy side were not content with a draw. With ten minutes to go, the Whites rampaged forward. Sellami handled the ball in the area following a free kick from Roberto and Barroso made no mistake from the penalty spot to complete a remarkable comeback for the Under-19 side.
