Castilla slipped to defeat after being reduced to ten men in the 30th minute following a foul on Nico Paz and an offside in the build-up to the second goal.
Castilla came away empty handed from their visit to Ceuta at the Alfonso Murube stadium, on matchday 22 of the league campaign. The academy side crashed to defeat in a match that saw controversial refereeing by Morales Moreno who sent off Ribes in the 30th minute after Nico Paz had been fouled on the edge of the Ceuta penalty area and allowed a second goal that should not have counted due to offside in the build-up (69').
A minute's silence was held in memory of Carlos Cela, who played for Real Madrid between 1955 and 1958, and Ángel Sotomayor, a Ceuta board member. The clash got off to a lively start, although it took a while for the first clear-cut chances to come. The clearest opportunities for Raúl's side fell to Nico Paz ('20) and Palacios ('26).
Castilla reduced to 10 men
On the half hour mark, referee Pablo Morales Moreno gave Ribes a straight red card for a foul on Sofiane when he was the last defender in a Ceuta counterattack. However, Nico Paz had been fouled on the edge of the home side's area, but the referee did not award a free-kick. Three minutes later, the Madridistas appealed for a penalty after Víctor Muñoz went down in the area after a push from Cedric, but the referee saw nothing wrong with the incident.
Ceuta made the most of their numerical advantage with several promising chances before the break and, after the restart, Aisar grabbed the first goal for the hosts (52'). Castilla sought to fight back, but in the 66th minute Romera made it 2-0 when he headed home a pinpoint cross from the right wing. However, the goal should not have counted due to Romera being in an offside position, but Morales Moreno allowed the goal to stand, which ultimately put the game to bed and sealed Castilla's defeat.
