Real Madrid Castilla picked up another victory as they prepare for the start of the league season. Raúl's side won the Teide Trophy thanks to a win over a demanding opponent, Tenerife, who play in the second division. Reinier was on hand to seal the win with a stunning strike before half-time.
After a minute's silence in memory of Eduardo 'Chato' Gonzalez, the game started with both teams playing at a high tempo. Madrid's first chance fell to Gonzalo, but he failed to beat Salvador in the one-on-one (9'). Eight minutes later, it was Fran González who saved Corredera's curling shot with a superb save. Before the break, Castilla made it 1-0. Ribes played a ball into the box from deep in his own half, Reinier controlled the ball with his first touch, beat his marker with a sombrero and slotted the ball under the keeper.
Few goal-scoring chances
The start of the second half followed the same pattern as the first 45 minutes. Tenerife gave a warning in the 53rd minute with a very dangerous shot from Adrián, which Fran blocked. Despite the insistence of the islanders in their attempts to equalise, our reserve team withstood the onslaught and held on to the scoreline until the end of the second half to secure another victory against a strong opponent.
