Castilla loses in Marbella

Real Madrid Castilla were unable to pick up any points in their first league game of the 2024-25 season. Raúl's side, who deserved more, lost by the narrowest of margins against Marbella at the Banús Football Center in a game in which they had numerous chances to score. Our reserve team is now thinking about their next league game, in which they face Ibiza at the Alfredo Di Stéfano (Saturday, 31 August, 8.00pm CEST).

The first few minutes were a tentative affair, and on 12 minutes Gonzalo tried his luck with a shot from the edge of the area that Dani Martín deftly cleared off the line. Three minutes later Borja Alonso tried from the edge of the area, but his shot went wide. Marbella's response was swift and Jorge Álvarez could have opened the scoring with a one-on-one with Fran González, who saved superbly (18'). After several exchanges of blows with no clear goal threat, the game went into the second half with the scores level.

Little luck for Castilla
After the restart, and despite Madrid's superiority in the first half, the home side took the lead through Callejón, who picked up a rebound in the box to make it 1-0. In the 55th minute, Borja Alonso had the chance to restore parity with a shot against the keeper that flew just wide of the top corner. And thirteen minutes later, Gonzalo tried his luck with a header that the rival goalkeeper managed to trap. The reserves kept looking for the equaliser, but in the end the scoreline remained the same.
